“He almost landed in trouble” – Lady recounts the alleged panic of a retired police officer over changing luggage at the airport

Nigerian lady shared a disturbing story told to her by her father’s friend, a retired police officer, about an alleged luggage swap incident at the airport.

In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), she said the retired officer traveled from Toronto to Abuja in February 2026 and took the necessary precautions, including taking photos of his bags and wrapping the handles with reflective tape for easy identification.

Narrating the ordeal, she said:

“He always wraps the handles of his suitcase with bright reflective tape on every trip so he can spot them easily. He took photos of his luggage tags and his bags before check-in.”

She explained that on arrival in Abuja, only one of his bags turned up, while he was presented with another suitcase with his name tag on it, but it did not match his actual luggage.

The retired officer reportedly refused to accept bag after noticing that the reflective tape was missinginsisting that his instincts as an ex-cop immediately told him something was wrong.

“This is not mine,” she reportedly said he insisted, adding that he immediately refused to touch the bag and insisted that the matter be reported to airport authorities.

According to her, she stated that such incidents involve criminals switching luggage with identical name tags in an attempt to move prohibited items, including drugs, to their destinations.

The lady’s story has since sparked concern online, with many travelers discussing airport security and the importance of properly identifying luggage during international travel.
