“Repentant Boko Haram members get ₦3 million payout, monthly salary after rehabilitation”
A native of Borno State, Enoch Yohanna, claimed to have repented Boko Haram members get ₦3 million and get monthly salary after completion of rehabilitation under government schemes.
He made the claims during a public event, expressing anger at what he described as the use of taxpayers’ money to support individuals previously involved in insurgent activities.
Allegations about the rehabilitation system
According to him, individuals who previously participated in the rebellion were allegedly put through a structured process rehabilitation process before reintegration into society.
He argued that the process involved categorizing participants based on their level of involvement and exposure during the insurgency period.
Requirements in the reintegration process
He further stated that some rehabilitated individuals have been integrated into community security arrangements, while others have been assigned to various tasks under government supervision.
In his words: “Boko haram are being rehabilitated, now, what do they do after rehabilitation, they fill out a form, they are asked questions about how many people they have killed. If they are 50, they have a class of their own. If you never left, you stay there for a month. If you have a small number, two months. If you kill a lot of them, six months. What type of ammunition did you use?
These are the people who got a payout of N3 million and a monthly salary of N50, 000. I am revealing this. Once you are rehabilitated and can’t live without using g$ns, the government will provide you with weapons as a civilian JTF. You all know they are here in Abuja. Most of them are Boko Haram repentants. Some of them who cannot stay in society, are exported to Algeria to go and do illegal gold mining in Algeria. and get paid. If they sustain gunshot wounds, they will be transported back to Maiduguri and treated at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital through the Borno State Government.
Civilian JTFs. Go to Zamfara, they are there. The government of Zamfara pays the government of Borno N70, 000. The government of Borno pays them N50, 000, which means it is a job. It’s a job. It is not a crime to start a business if our government recognizes it.
