“What’s happy about Children’s Day?” – The lady laments the growing insecurity, kidnappings in schools in Nigeria
Nigerian lady has expressed deep frustration over the celebration of Children’s Day amid growing insecurity and repeated cases of abductions in schools across the country.
In a video shared on TikTok, she questioned what was truly “happy” about the celebration, claiming that children in Nigeria are no longer safe even in schools, which should be the safest places for them.
She said in her own words:
“Today should be Children’s Day, but why is Children’s Day happy in Nigeria? School should be the safest place for children, but children now go to school in fear.”
The lady mentioned recently kidnapping in Oriire community in Oyo statesaying that such incidents are recurring and many victims are yet to return home.
She also accused the authorities of failing to protect children, complaining that families have been left helpless as insecurity continues across the country.
“We live in a failed country and the president is running up and down. As a country, we have failed our children,” she added.
Her comments sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians agreeing with her concerns, while others debated the tone of her criticism.
The statement continues to circulate on social media as conversations about school safety and national security intensify on Children’s Day.
