The France captain retained the individual honor after an impressive 2025-2026 season. in which he established himself as Real Madrid’s leading attacking figure despite the club’s wider struggles in all competitions.
Mbappe dominates the scoring charts
Mbappe finished as La Liga’s top scorer with 25 goals and also finished the UEFA Champions League campaign as the competition’s top scorer after scoring 15 goals.
In all competitions, the 27-year-old has registered 42 goals and seven assists in 44 appearances, contributing directly to 49 goals during the season.
His performances have further cemented his status as one of the most determined strikers in world football since joining Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain.
Individual brilliance amidst team struggles
Mbappe’s personal success came during a difficult period for Real Madrid, when the Spanish giants collectively endured back-to-back unconvincing campaigns.
As the club struggled to live up to expectations domestically and in Europe, Mbappe remained one of the few consistent performers in Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
The French striker is now expected to focus on international duty after being selected by France coach Didier Deschamps for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
