- He accused the authorities of neglecting the officers despite the risks associated with their duties.

A man identified as a member of the Nigerian police has sparked controversy online after a video surfaced showing him expressing anger at the state of police officers in the country while making threatening comments directed at civilians.
The video, which went viral on Xo, captured the officer lamenting the hardships faced by police personnel. He accused the authorities of abandoning the officers despite the dangers associated with their work.
Speaking in the video, he warned that anyone filming him while on duty could face consequences, adding that the senior officers who issue the orders are often not the ones who suffer the outcome.
“Every day when I perform the duties of an officer, let someone take a picture of me, the one who gives you the order to go be the one who will bury you. For twenty-six years here we suffer every day,” he said.
The officer also complained about the poor welfare system in the police force, claiming that many officers struggle for their basic needs due to a lack of support from the government. According to him, the families of officers who die in active service are often neglected.
Despite his criticism, he praised the current Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, for allegedly taking steps to improve compensation and welfare packages for the relatives of the fallen officers.
“The uniform is not fit to buy, anything not fit to do for us. If it wasn’t for this new IG we would have started changing things and giving the families of the dead cops their benefits. The monkey works, the baboon snarls,” he added.
The viral clip caused widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians condemning the police officer’s threatening statements and demanding disciplinary action against him.
The incident further fueled debates on police welfare, accountability and the level of trust between security agencies and the public in Nigeria.
