Tinubu defeats Stanley Osif to emerge as the APC presidential candidate amid security concerns

President It hurts Ahmed Tinubu he defeated his opponent, Stanley Osif, and became the presidential candidate of the Progressive Congress (Armored personnel carrier) ahead of the 2027 general elections due to security concerns

Tinubu reportedly secured 10.99 million votes to defeat Osif, who polled 16,504 votes in the APC presidential primaries conducted in 8,809 units across the country.

The results emerged during the ongoing national collation of presidential primaries at the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Center in Abuja.

APC governors from 31 states, alongside party coordinators and reconciliation officers, were said to have presented the results Committee for Presidential Primary Elections presided over by former Senate President Pius Anyim.

While Tinubu reportedly dominated all the 36 states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), winning 100 percent of the votes in most of them, Osifo recorded significant votes in states like Niger, where he won 5,248 votes, Kano with 2,675 votes, Lagos with 1,186 votes, Abia with 1,007 votes, Oyo with 929 votes, Benue with 779 votes and Nasarawa with 768 votes.

With the APC presidential ticket now secured, attention is expected to shift towards preparations for the 2027 general elections and possible opposition candidates.
