The Nigerian woman caused violent reactions on the Internet after she told how her younger brother was cousin he allegedly used ₦150,000 meant for business to fund a night out at a club.
The lady, who shared her experience on Xu, said she decided to support her cousin financially after several family members described the young woman as hardworking and is seriously considering starting a small business.
According to her, the money was handed over in good faith with the expectation that it would help her brother become financially independent.
However, things reportedly changed just a few weeks later when she came across footage of her cousin partying in a nightclub and splashing cash with friends.
Shock after discovering club videos
Recounting the incident, the lady said she was stunned after seeing the Snapchat posts and immediately questioned her cousin about the business plans.
She wrote: “Last month I gave my younger cousin £150,000 to start a small business because the whole family kept saying she was serious and hard working.”
“Two weeks later I saw her on Snapchat splashing money in a club with her friends.”
According to her, the cousin admitted that she used the money for pleasure instead of investing it.
“Life is short. I used the money first to enjoy myself.”
The statement, she said, left her deeply disappointed, especially after the sacrifice she made to secure financial support.
The family’s reaction fuels frustration
The situation reportedly became disturbing after another family member defended the relative’s actions.
The lady revealed that her aunt contacted her later and asked her to be more understanding because her cousin is still young.
“What annoyed me the most was that my aunt still called me later and said that ‘I need to understand her’ because she is young.”
Feeling betrayed and without support, the woman said she decided to stop offering financial help to relatives altogether.
“From that day on, I stopped helping my relatives financially.”
She added that several family members have since accused her of being proud and mean about her decision.
“Now everyone in the family calls me proud and mean. Was I wrong to cut everyone off after that?”
