“One died saying curses, the other died forgiving”

An former Muslim sparked online backlash after he explained why he left Islam, revealing how a comparison between the last words of the prophet Muhammad and Jesus deeply shook his faith.

A man identified as @RealShahriqKh on Xu (formerly Twitter), shared his thoughts in a lengthy post addressing what he described as a difference in the “spirit” behind the final moments of both religious figures.

Comparison of closing words

According to him, he began to question his beliefs after reading accounts of the Prophet Muhammad’s last words in Islamic texts and comparing them to the words Jesus in the Bible.

“When I was a Muslim, I compared Muhammad’s last words to Jesus’ last words. Not just the facts, but the spirit behind them. And brother, the difference is astounding. It shook my devoted Muslim faith,” he wrote.

The former Muslim referred to a tradition from Sahih al-Bukhari, saying they were among the last words of the Prophet Muhammad “May Allah curse the Jews and Christians. They turned the graves of their prophets into places of worship.”

He explained that the statement reflected separation, not reconciliation.

“No forgiveness. No reconciliation. No peace,” he added.

Jesus’ last words

He then compared it to the words Jesus allegedly spoke while being crucified.

“Beated, betrayed, tortured, hanging on the cross with nails pierced through his wrists, Jesus says: ‘Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.’ And then: ‘It’s over.’ He dies by swearing. Another dies forgiving. One ends by drawing lines and reinforcing division. The other rends the veil and reconciles heaven and earth.”

Personal reflection

The man said the comparison changed the way he viewed both figures and ultimately contributed to his decision to leave Islam.

“And whether people like it or not, the last words reveal something deeply personal in the heart. That contrast shook me. Because one man’s last moments cemented separation, while another changed eternity through mercy, sacrifice, and love. Please sit with that honestly.”
