AND lady sparked conversations on social media after she told how her mother confronted and beat up a school employee who severely punished her younger sister for failing a quiz.

According to the lady, the incident happened after the school contacted her mother that her sister had suddenly developed a fever and they had to take her home.
Suspecting a sudden illness, the woman said her mother rushed home from work to find the child allegedly whipped mercilessly by a member of staff, popularly known as “aunt” in many Nigerian schools.
“An ‘aunt’ at school used to whip my sister mercilessly for failing a quiz, to the point where she threw up. They had to take her home because she had a fever,she said.
“She went out, bought four sticks and headed for school. Unfortunately for my aunt, my mom caught her off guard in the school grounds, broke all the sticks on her body and continued with her hands. Aunt saw a pepper that day, she added.
The incident revives the debate about corporal punishment
The narrative has since reignited debates about corporal punishment in schools across Nigeria, with many users condemning excessive disciplining of children.
Cases involving harsh punishment in schools have repeatedly sparked outrage in recent years.
In 2023, several parents and advocacy groups called for stricter supervision of teachers after reports surfaced online of students suffering injuries from excessive whipping.
The lady further claimed that the school management fired the staff member in question shortly after the altercation.
