Veteran Nollywood actor Chiwetalu Agu has urged Nigerians not to allow personal malfunctions or negative experiences become barriers for others, emphasizing that individual outcomes should not be generalized.
In a viral video, the actor said that people should avoid discouraging others just because something didn’t work out for them.
He noted, “Don’t discourage anyone just because you had a bad experience. Just because it didn’t work for you, doesn’t mean it won’t work for someone else. Failure is personal, not universal.”
Agu also addressed the misconceptions about marriage, saying that although it is not an achievement, it remains successful for many people.
He added, “Yes, it is true that marriage is not a success, but marriage works. Just because yours didn’t work, doesn’t mean it won’t work for others.”
Regarding faith, the actor warned against sweeping generalizations based on personal encounters.
He said, “The fact that you had a bad experience in the church does not mean that all churches are bad… The church is a living thing and many churches are true.”
He further extended his message to career and business struggles, insisting that failure in one area does not determine outcomes in another.
According to him, “The fact that you tried and failed doesn’t mean that others will too. Grace is different.”
Agu encouraged persistence and resilience, advising people to keep trying or change direction when necessary.

He concluded by reminding viewers not to project their pain onto others, adding: “Failure is not proof that something is impossible… The fact that he procrastinates does not mean that he has been rejected.”
