Temi Otedola turned 30 and in orange. From head to toe, lowered from head to floor, all orange. And she did it so well that we’re now questioning every opinion we’ve ever had about color.

Now Temi Ajibadshared a carousel of birthday photos that have been circulating, and the sight at the center of them all is a flowing orange draped dress in a light, fluid fabric that wraps around the body and descends into a long skirt that gathers dramatically at the floor. A matching orange fabric is draped over her head like a veil, falling loosely behind her and giving the look a quality that sits somewhere between regal and editorial. The neckline plunges into a plunging halter-style front that keeps everything from straying too far into costume territory and brings it firmly back into fashion.

The jewelry does exactly what good jewelry should do. Large gold hoop earrings with a red fringe and a strawberry charm add something unexpected and fun to a look that could easily have remained serious. A gold chain necklace with a red strawberry pendant rests on her neck, and long nails in soft lilac polish complete the details in the most subtle way. Her hair is pulled back in a high sleek ponytail with big voluminous curls attached at the front, a nod to vintage glamor that feels completely at home with all that draping. Her makeup is warm and glowing, defined eyes, soft blush and neutral peach lips.

The first photo is the one that stays with you. Temi on the floor in all that orange on a dark red background, with a leopard standing right behind her. A striped coat, an intense look, the peace of it all – turns a birthday photo into something that looks like it belongs in a magazine. And yes, before you ask, the leopard is not real. But it does a very convincing job.
