Temiloluwa Ajibade went to Accra, sat down on the knitting chair and came back with the curls pulled all the way and a comment that goes into our notes. “My forehead is getting bigger in Accra,” she said. We’re not here to discuss that. We’re here to say that hair looks really good.
The cornrows are neat and clean from the hairline all the way back, nothing is loose, nothing softens the edges. It’s a hairstyle that removes every layer between your face and whoever’s looking at it, and Tema’s face can handle it without any difficulty. Her bone structure comes forward, her brows do their job, her makeup stays minimal—natural skin, clean lips—and the whole thing reads as sharp and intentional without looking like it’s taking a lot of effort. This balance is harder to achieve than it looks.

The garment she is wearing in the photos is a white maxi coat dress covered in a blue dalmatian pattern, with a wide lapel collar, long sleeves and a self-tie belt tied loosely at the waist. The front slit opens from mid-thigh down to reveal a yellow and pink printed mini dress underneath. Black pointy low-heeled shoes, small gold earrings and two different backdrops – a cobalt blue metal door and an arched black wooden door – round out a series of photos that do exactly what they need to do.
