Nollywood actress and producer Ruth Kadiri has called on the government to allow Nigerians to defend themselves as insecurity continues to spread across the country.

The actress made the appeal in a post on her social media page on Tuesday, where she expressed concern over the increasing incidence of attacks, murders and fear among citizens.

Expressing her frustration, Kadiri wrote, “Give us the power to defend ourselves.”

She lamented that many Nigerians now feel insecure and vulnerable as insecurity threatens lives and property in several parts of the nation.

According to the director, citizens deserve better protection and more effective measures by the authorities, stressing that security is a fundamental right, not a privilege.

Her statement quickly drew reactions online, with several Nigerians agreeing with her concerns and calling on the government and security agencies to take immediate steps to address the worsening situation.
