The boy finally gained admission into the University of Ibadan after multiple UTME attempts

Bride Nigerian boy he went viral after he finally secured admission into the University of Ibadan (UI) after several attempts at the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The student, identified as Prestige Oluwaseun, said his dream had always been to study medicine and surgery at UI.
He explained that his journey was filled with repeated attempts, disappointment and resilience before he finally succeeded.
First UTME attempt
Oluwaseun revealed that he scored 295 in the first UTME 2020, a result that initially gave him hope.
However, he said admission did not follow because of his post-UTME performance, despite his good score.
“295. This was my result in the first JAMB I wrote, then in 2020,” he wrote.
He added:
“UI Medicine and Surgery… Exactly my first choice.”
“I started to hear different voices of discouragement…distraction…’change course or institution’.”
“But I didn’t answer. I love UI so much. UI or nothing. I started reading for UI Post-UTME, back in 2021.”
“I needed at least 86/100 to make the cutoff… from my own calculation. 86. That’s a big score. 86/100.”
“I started reading. I read very hard.”
“I can’t even afford to disappoint my parents. God . . .”
He said that despite his preparation, he later scored 66/100 in the Post-UTME.
“I just need 86. UI Post-UTME came. And I got the biggest shock of my life, 66/100.”
“Ahhh… 66. I didn’t cry like that day. I just wanted the earth to swallow me.”
“I hid from people. I avoided certain conversations.”
Exchange rate change
After failing, Oluwaseun said he was later offered chemistry at the University of Ibadan, with plans to continue in 2023. However, he refused to give up on his dream.
He also wrote another UTME in 2022, targeting Medicine and Surgery at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU).
“I started reading hard again… God… 317. Come in jhoooorrr. I was so happy. You can’t tell me otherwise… I’ll get it this year.”
“All focus set on OAU Post-UTME. I just need 34/40 to get in.”
However, he faced disappointment again after scoring 26/40.
“The results are in. When I checked mine, my phone fell on the floor… 26/40. Again…”
“I cried a lot… I was lost. Broken. Broken. Destroyed.”
“Pull myself together? It took me a while. But… maybe, I just don’t want to give up. “So I said… ‘One more time?'”
