“I cancel this wedding” — the bride-to-be rejects the fiance’s unusual family tradition

AND woman sparked heated debate online after revealing she was considering ending her engagement due to an unusual wedding tradition practiced by her fiance’s family.
The lady shared her experience on social media, explaining how her fiance proposed to her in April and both families have already started planning the wedding next year.
However, she said tensions began after he discovered a long-standing family custom that excludes women from the main wedding ceremony.
The bride questions the tradition of the family wedding
According to the woman, tradition allows only the bride and men from both families to attend the wedding, while relatives and friends hold a smaller celebration two weeks later.
“Honestly, the more I think about it, the more it annoys me. I can’t imagine a wedding without my mother, sister and all my friends.”
She also expressed disappointment that her fiance had never mentioned the custom earlier despite their three-year relationship.
“I really hate that he never told me before. We’ve been together for three years and I thought we were close,“, she added.
Her fiance has reportedly defended the practice, insisting it is a harmless family tradition that goes back generations.
According to him, the custom arose after his great-great-grandmother was once alone a woman in her family attending a wedding celebration.
Online users are divided over the story
The story quickly drew mixed reactions online, with some users supporting the woman’s concerns, while others argued that cultural and family traditions should be respected in relationships.
Similar debates have surfaced online in recent years as couples increasingly clash over wedding expectations, religious customs and family traditions before marriage.
