Nunn’s West Ham future in question after relegation talks

West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo is set for key talks with the club’s hierarchy on Monday following the Hammers’ relegation from the Premier League.
The Portuguese manager is meeting with senior officials to assess the financial and sporting consequences of relegation from the Championship, with expectations growing that he could leave the London Stadium after less than a full season in charge.
Nuno avoided confirming his future after West Ham ended their disappointing campaign with a 3-0 win over Leeds on the final day of the season. The result, however, was not enough to preserve the first league status.
The former coach of Wolves, Tottenham and Nottingham Forest only arrived at West Ham in September on a three-year contract.

Financial pressure increases after relegation
West Ham chairman David Sullivan and vice-chairman Daniel Kretinsky are expected to lead discussions on the club’s next steps as they prepare for life outside the Premier League for the first time since 2011.
According to club sources, relegation could cost West Ham around £200 million in lost revenue, adding to existing financial problems.
The Hammers have posted losses of £104m in accounts published up to May 2025, with another significant shortfall expected this season.
Despite showing signs of improvement late in the season, West Ham’s poor start and damaging 10-match winless run between November and January ultimately proved costly.
Bowen avoids transfer speculation
Several key players could now leave the club as West Ham try to balance their finances ahead of the Championship season.
Midfielder Mateus Fernandes has reportedly attracted interest from Manchester United, while captain Jarrod Bowen is also being monitored by a number of Premier League clubs.
Bowen, however, refused to discuss his future immediately after Sunday’s win over Leeds.
“It’s still very, very raw,” Bowen said.
“Talking about the future is disrespectful to the club, the fans, everything like that. This club deserves to be in the Premier League. Our goal now is to bring this club back to the Premier League.”
