Barcelona have sent an offer of 70 million euros for Newcastle striker Anthony Gordon

Barcelona have reportedly stepped up their search for Newcastle United attacker Anthony Gordon after submitting an official offer for the English national team.
The Catalan club are looking to strengthen their attacking options this summer and have now set their sights on Gordon following interest in Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez and Chelsea forward Joao Pedro.
Reports in Spain claim Barcelona have tabled a €70m bid for the 25-year-old, although Newcastle are believed to value the player at around €92m.
Barcelona are moving quickly amid interest from Bayern
Gordon has previously been linked with Bayern Munich, with Newcastle reportedly holding talks with the Bundesliga champions over a possible transfer.

However, Barcelona are now trying to get ahead of rival clubs by speeding up negotiations and agreeing personal terms with the player.
Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that the rough terms of the contract have already been agreed between Gordon and Barcelona, with the Spanish champions keen to complete the deal before further competition emerges.
Newcastle have yet to say whether they will accept Barcelona’s current offer, which is well below their reported asking price.
Gordon emerged as a key forward for Newcastle
Gordon became one of Newcastle’s main attacking figures last season after the departure of Alexander Isak and injuries affected the team’s attacking options.
Although naturally deployed on the left wing, the England international was also used in midfield and finished the campaign with 17 goals and five assists in 46 appearances in all competitions.
Barcelona are understood to view Gordon as a versatile option capable of operating across the front line.
With Robert Lewandowski expected to leave this summer, the club could see Gordon as part of a long-term rebuilding attack, although he could also compete for a role alongside Raphinha on the left side of attack.
Barcelona continue to work within financial constraints, meaning talks with Newcastle could depend on the sale of players or a revised structure of any potential deal.
